Company representative
& qualified manager FAQs.

Do I have to take a state exam?

Eligible owners who use our qualified Designated Company Representative do not personally take the company representative exam.

What is a Designated Company Representative?

This is the person designated to oversee the regulated services and meet the applicable experience and examination requirements. Texas no longer issues a separate Qualified Manager registration. “Qualified management” describes our service; Designated Company Representative is the current regulatory role. Appointment must meet Texas ownership or officer requirements. See the Texas DPS experience and examination requirements.

Can you help an already licensed company?

Yes. Our services support both new applications and existing companies that need qualified representation and ongoing regulatory compliance management. Email us your current license status and the support you need.

Can I hire a Texas security company representative on contract?

We offer contract representative services for eligible Texas security businesses. During your free consultation, we review your planned services, business structure, and license status. We also discuss the oversight you need. Email admin@tx-qm.com to discuss availability and contract terms.

Qualified management & compliance

Is a qualified manager the same as a designated representative?

Looking for a qualified manager for hire? You may need help with the company representative role. In Texas, the current regulatory role is Designated Company Representative. Qualified Manager is not a separate current registration. Our services combine qualified management, representation, and licensing support.

What does your PSB compliance service cover?

Our PSB compliance support helps Texas private security businesses manage licensing updates, renewal planning, records, and ongoing regulatory obligations. We discuss the support your operation needs during the consultation and define it in the service agreement.

Hiring & contract details

What should I discuss before hiring a company representative?

Start with the services your company will offer, its legal structure, and its current license status. Next, ask how the representative’s qualifications match your services. Discuss the oversight included and how you will work together. Finally, confirm the contract scope, responsibilities, fees, and renewal support. Ask how to end or change the arrangement.

How much does a contract company representative cost?

Contact us for pricing based on your company and the scope of support you need. The initial consultation is free. Ask for the service fees and contract terms, and budget separately for state application fees and insurance premiums.

How long does Texas security company licensing take?

Timing depends on your application and the state’s review. We guide you through the documentation and licensing process; Texas DPS makes the approval decision. The 61-day experience quoted by one client is that client’s result, not a promised processing time.

Does the service include insurance?

We provide guidance through insurance procurement and the related licensing documentation. Insurance premiums, state fees, and the scope of our services are discussed separately during your consultation.
